Introduction

Like so many, I was introduced to art and writing as a child. Art and story-telling struck a chord immediately and I could spend hours creating the lives behind each scene as I drew or coloured. However, as I grew older I found it challenging to give myself permission to truly exercise these forms of creativity, and it wasn't until late high school that I began to invest in art and writing again as worthy (academic) pursuits. Even now I continue learning to embrace these practices and put my art out into the world. What started out as childhood pastimes have become lifelong passions as I realize how much the acts of drawing, painting, writing, and ultimately creating mean to me.

I have been intentionally practicing and pursuing art for over 15 years now, graduating from the Psychology and Fine Art programs at the University of Guelph in 2010. I work primarily with acrylic and watercolour, but have an interest in oil and various drawing mediums. My writing has been more covert over a similar period of time, and I remain hesitant about sharing it, which holds the opportunity to exercise some courage... in time. That is my aim with this site -- to get serious about creating and sharing these art forms with the world outside my four walls and closest connections.

My other area of work, providing spiritual care in a Long Term Care setting, is life-giving in how it provides another avenue for the appreciation of the power of story. I am humbled by the amount of trust and courage that people demonstrate when they open up about their lives, and invite me to be part of meaning-making. Between that work and seeking to create a home environment full of life, peace, grace, and restoration, I continue to uncover aspects of who I am and what I want to bring to the world. This site is where I hope to blend all these experiences of growth, learning, and creativity in one place.
